Margaretha Ehrbar, daughter of Johann and Elizabeth Ranft Erbar was born in Untermelsendorf #5, Bavaria, Germany. She was the mother of an illegitimate daughter, Barbara, born in Untermelsendorf #5. The proven natural father of Barbara was Carolous Ehrbar of Untermelsendorf #10, a third cousin. Margaretha came to America with her daughter, Barbara, to marry Carolous/ Karl/ Charles Ehrbar, who had emigrated to America in October of 1851. They were married in St. John's Church, Cleveland, Ohio by Rev. Rupp on January 10, 1852. Their witnesses were Michael Ehrbar and Ignatius Frey. They had 4 other children born in Cleveland, one son died as an infant and a daughter, Catherine, also died as an infant, another son who carried the same name of William also died as a child. Their daughter Margaret (Maggie) was born in 1853. Margaretha died of Consumption on May 23, 1860 in Cleveland, Ohio. Her grave was purchased for $2.00 and she was buried from St. John's Church, the priest was Rev. Obermueller. She was buried in St. John's Cemetery.
